Google recently came out with a new feature for their business listings. It hasn’t been promoted widely even by Google.
It has been a long standing feature that when you search for a business on Google, if they have an established website and internet presence, the search will pull up information about the business on the right-hand side of a search results page. This information is commonly known as the Google “knowledge graph.”
Google draws most of the information presented in this knowledge graph from the company’s Google Places for Business listing that is associated with their Google account. You can see an example below.
The new feature is called “Google Posts.”
It is an additional section to the knowledge graph that displays information about recent company activity that is posted by the company itself to its Places for Business account. It is like a Facebook post.
Consequently, people searching for a business can see the latest and greatest about the company. Such posts only stay up for a week and then come down. Google will notify you about this.
You can make as many posts as you like.
1. Login to your Places for Business account at https://www.google.com/business/.
2. Look at the menu on the left hand side for “Posts”.
3. Click on it and add your image and information.
